What Do You Keep Your Thermostat On?

I keep mine at 74, and the bill for a two bedroom apartment was $80

I just move into my new apatment about 3 months ago, and I have vaulted ceilings in my kitchen and living room areas. I have to run the AC like a mofo to cool that place down, mainly bc its an upstairs apartment. Have those of you with vaulted ceilings learned any tricks or trades of how I can cool the apartment more efficently?

No A/C at home. In the wintertime the heater is set at 64 at night and middle of the day and 68 morning and evenings.

Programmable thermostat set anywhere between 68 at night to 74 in day when at work. Cuts down to 74 around 8am then cut on around 4pm to about 72, then 68 at 10pm. Last months bill was $52 and that for an 1800sf house.

During the day I turn it up to 80, then down to 70-72 at night. If it's not that hot during the day then I turn it off during the day, because I'm cheap.

We put ours off in the summer. In the winter we keep it at 21°C. Most Canadian households (excluding southern Ontario areas like the greater Toronto area), do NOT have A/C at all. If it gets really hot we just turn on a couple fans.

I've been in Ottawa a lot recently and it has been as hot as NJ, like 30degrees celcius, and Humid, I felt like I was in a Sauna when I left there Sunday.

78 during the cooling season and 68 during the heating season. My two patio doors suck but I really don't want to shell out the $'s to replace them.

I set it on open door, windows, and breeze. SW facing condo gets great breeze going through. $40 summer bills for 3 bedroom 1700 sf condo. But it hot under covers at night so I sleep w/o covers.

78 when i'm home, 80 when gone.

run the heat at 70 in the winter.

this keeps our bill pretty low. no reason to keep the a/c any lower b/c it comes on a lot anyway, even set at 80.
