How much are you paying for HEATING OIL this winter ???

Last year I locked my price at 1.599 for the year.
I watched the prices all winter and they bounced around in the 1.70-2.00 range so I guess I did well.

I just got a letter yesterday from my oil company and guess what they want this year?
2.299

I called a few others and the lowest I find right now is 1.959.
Most are in the 1.99-2.19 range.
So it looks like I’ll be switching companies unless they match the price to keep me as a customer.

It sucks to have to do this in the middle of the summer, but it's only gonna go UP if you wait.

So what are you guys finding?

True Accurati don't worry about mere problems like heating costs. Me, I pay my bills when I watch Seinfeld. Water bill double this month? I give it a Jerry Seinfeld "meh-mwa" and put the stamp on it.

When I filled up (May) it was 1.79 from my guy. He doesn't offer locks, but I might have to look into it this year... Like you said, I should probably start calling around now.

Don't mind dallison, I'm sure he lives in the middle of nowhere.
The rest of us get scammed by the natural gas provider
('OhioEdison, a FirstEnergy company').

Dallison needs to move to something that could remotely be called a metropolitan area. May I suggest Pittsburgh.

I live in the boonies...Nearest gas, water or sewer line in the ground is about 8-miles away.

my uncle built a house about 3 years ago and he has geothermal hvac. in the hardest month in the winter it costs him no more than $140 in electricity to run it and the whole house, no coal, oil, or natural gas to buy.
in the summer it keeps the house cool and is also the ac.
its def a little more expensive but at these rates for fuel i think we may start to see more of em

I really need to add some additional insulation in the attic... There is some of that blow in stuff up there, but it's settled. I went thru almost 1000 gallons all of last year... Boiler is still the original (from 1965) so that ain't helping either

Looks like it'll cost me over $2k to heat the house (oil does the hot water too) next year
