Glories of yesteryear were conceived when General Motors licensed a Californian specialist sports car partnership in early 2009 to resume production of the iconic Corvette Grand Sport, arguably GM's most prestigious track racer ever.

Duntov/Superformance LLC lost no time in turning opportunity into reality, and Duntov immediately began production of the race version of the 1963 Grand Sport, which has already raced and won a number of events this year.

Now the street version of this popular 1960's muscle car will follow with the series production of a Turn Key Minus chassis by Superformance. The original Grand Sport - intended to be a "Cobra Killer" - was built by General Motors under the watchful eyes of Zora Arkus Duntov, GM's chief engineer at the time.

The value of a continuation model and that of a historic original is encapsulated in its authenticity. Superformance went to great lengths to ensure that the new street version would be as like the original Grand Sport as two peas are in a pod, having acquired the original blue prints and molds off the original #2 Grand Sport.

With only five originals ever built, the Superformance Grand Sport will give buyers the opportunity to own a piece of GM's rich history. What makes this street version an even more valuable product is that it is licensed by its originators and that is not only meant to be raced, but is equally at home as a daily driver.

The SPF Grand Sport will be available in a roadster or coupe version and the technical originality is ensured by the legendary discipline and precision that has made Superformance products the leading fully assembled rolling chassis in the world.

Each SPF Grand Sport will be professionally engineered, custom crafted and professionally assembled in the largest and most modern privately owned specialist automotive manufacturing facility in the world.

The design of the Grand Sport chassis enables owners to select their drive trains from virtually any General Motors crate option available. The first completed street version rollers will be available in the US in mid 2010.

German well known cartuner wheelsandmore revealed their custom modifications on the Aston Martin DB9 convertible.

The exterior received a special polyurethane bodykit, contending stylish sideskirts, aprons in the front as well as rear and a rear lid spoiler what gives the elegant britain a more aggressive look.

The stock version of the 6.0L V12 is coming with 476hp, too less for the tuning enthusiasts adding enormous 60hp and 50 lb-ft of torque with an ECU upgrade, special 200 cells sportcatalysts and a valve controlled, stainless steel exhaust system. Because of the remote controlled exhaust system the car now sounds like a V12 should sound, if the driver wants it.

Adding to the exterior customizations wheelsandmore took a wheelset from their exclusive series, shown at www.kahn-felgen.net.

The specifications of the front Kahn RS-V wheels are 9.0×20 inches diameter and are wrapped in some of the best performance tires; the Dunlop Sport Maxx 255/35/20. The rear Kahn RS-V wheels are 11.0×20 inches and therefore needed the larger 285/30/20 tires.

H&R themselves customized a springset especially for wheelsandmore´s DB9 convertible, lowering the car around 25mm for a sportier look and a better handling.

Prices

Wheelset RS-V 9,0+11,0x20 with 255/35/20 and 285/30/20 – 5999 EURO
Bodykit inkl. installation and lacquering – 9000 EURO
Exhaustsystem, contending valve controlled exhaust
and 200 cells sport catalysts – 8800 EURO
ECU upgrade within v-max abilition – 3400 EURO
Special lowering springs – 1150 EURO

MTM provides M-Cantronic devices with power enhancement for the Audi S4 and the Audi S5 Cabrio

-- 3.0 TFSI engine goes up to 430 bhp after MTM's power therapy
-- Top speed of 285 kph for the classy sport wagon from Wettstetten
-- Complete package with power enhancement, exhaust system, suspension kit, brakes and sport rims

The engine specialist MTM in Wettstetten proposes a considerable power enhancement for the new Audi S4 and the brand new Audi S5 Cabrio. Using its approved control device M-Cantronic, both cars, which are motorized by the 3.0 TFSI engine, become powerful sports cars with an incredible power reserve. The MTM S4 - which is declined in its Avant model - after its power therapy, stand as a real successor of the Audi RS4, and the current V8 of the RS4 is only 10 bhp more powerful than the MTM S4. Besides the engine control device M-Cantronic, MTM provides the series production car S4 with 4 rear pipes silencers with throttle valves. What results is 430 bhp (317 kW), 515 Nm of torque and an incredible 4.6 s from 0 to 100 kph (0-60 mph) with the 6 speeds manual gearbox. When a V-Cantronic is also implanted as well as the M-Cantronic, the normal 250 kph top speed reachs 285 kph.

The S4 is not the only model which is motorized with the 3.0 L engine and new compressor technology. The S5 Cabrio is also built with the factory-made engine. It is then logical that MTM modifies the S5 Cabrio which allows cruising around with a massive power reserve. The tuning specialists from MTM propose different stages of performances, starting with at 380 bhp (280 kW) and 480 Nm of torque, which means about 47 bhp more than the series model. Who wishes the complementary exhaust systems with throttle valves in 4 rear pipes optic (4 x 80 mm), has access to the ultimo stage of power enhancement of 430 bhp and 515 Nm.

So much power in the new MTM S4 Supercharged needs an important brake system, that the customers can of course find by MTM. With 380 x 34 mm disk brakes, drilled with 8-pistons calipers, the S4 decelerate much better. With body work, MTM trusts the series model. However, MTM puts new lowering springs which lower the car up to 40 mm on the front axe and up to 45 mm on the rear axe. To reach the perfection, the package includes 19" rims in the original Bimoto design with dimensions 255/35 ZR 19. Of course, the 20" rims are also available in option.
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Ford Motor Co. said Thursday that it will begin equipping certain vehicles with inflatable seat belts that the company says will help prevent injuries in auto accidents.

The inflatable rear seat belts will be available next year on the next-generation Explorers and will become more widespread over time, Ford said in a press release.

The inflatable belt's increased diameter helps hold rear seat passengers in the appropriate seating position, which will help reduce head, neck and chest injuries, according to Ford.

"Ford is pioneering inflatable seat belt technology to help enhance crash safety protection, while encouraging more people to buckle up with a more comfortable belt," Paul Mascarenas, Ford's vice president engineering and global product development, said in a statement.

According to Ford's research, 90% of drivers indicated that the inflatable belts are similar to or more comfortable than traditional belts.

Mercedes' own modern re-interpretation of the classic 300SL Gullwing, the all-new 2010 SLS AMG, may be doing the press rounds in preparation for its commercial release later this year, but for those of us who would rather something more traditional in terms of styling the folks from Gullwing-America have released a new bodykit with some very retro styling cues.

You may recall we saw some concept sketches back in April for a retro-designed gullwing coupe based on the original Mercedes-Benz SL300 Gullwing from the 1950s. The car we’re talking about is the disturbingly cute 300 SL Panamericana from Gullwing-America, which you can read about by clicking here.

For Gullwing-America’s latest effort, the company has developed a new bodykit, which has been dubbed the Panamericana and is designed to make the new SLS AMG look more like its 1950s predecessor.

Some of the classic features include a cleaner design for the front radiator grille and the ribs on the hood and fenders, new chrome pieces, custom 19- and 20-inch wheels, plus a new high-flow exhaust.

Otherwise, the Panamericana is virtually a stock SLS AMG although customers can opt for racing stripes, aluminum door sills, and Alcantara trim. Pricing and availability will be announced at a later date.

Ferrari previews Ferrari World Abu Dhabi
10/30/2009, 3:18 PMBy Andrew Ganz
The Middle East has rapidly become the world’s premiere market for high-end supercars, so it should come as little surprise that Ferrari intends to open a performance-inspired theme park to showcase its automobiles in Abu Dhabi.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, which is set to open next year, will contain 20 attractions, “each designed to bring to life a different part of the Ferrari story,” according to the automaker.

The facility will be the world’s largest indoor park and will be located on Yas Island about 10 minutes from Abu Dhabi’s airport.

The world’s fastest roller coaster emulating the feel of a Formula 1 car will be on hand, as will a G-force simulator and various racing simulators to give ordinary civilians the feel of a Formula 1 vehicle. A “flume ride” journey will take riders through the heart of a Ferrari 599 motor, as well.

These are some of the very first photos of the Ferrari World Abu Dhabi theme park after the completion of the almost alien-like external structure. Set to be the world's largest indoor theme park and the first ever Ferrari theme park in the world when it opens in 2010, it comes complete with a racetrack that will host the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, shops, hotels, various attractions, rides and just about anything else to make it a gear-head's "Disney Land".

Talking about Disney Land, the Ferrari theme park which is located on Yas Island between the coast and city of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, will include the world's fastest rollercoaster. Travelling at speeds in excess of 200 km/h (124 mph), it is said to emulate the feeling of being in a Ferrari F1 car as the passengers go over 62 m through the roof and back down again.

As for the theme park's now completed red roof, which is claimed to have been directly inspired by the classic double curve side profile of the Ferrari GT body, it covers a surface area of 200,000m² (2.15 million square feet) and features the largest "prancing horse" emblem in the world, measuring an astonishing 66 meters (217 feet) in diameter.

The official motto of Steeda Autosports, “Speed matters,” is most certainly reflected in the Steeda Mustang that will be on display at SEMA.

“The Steeda Q350 is embodied with the very soul of Mustang performance,” said Dario Orlando, president of Steeda Autosports. “It combines the dynamics and agility of a high-performance sports racer with the everyday practicality and comfort of America’s original pony car – all in one integrated package.”

The Steeda Mustang has an array of modifications, including a functional body kit with unique aerodynamic features, an upgraded street/track suspension system, numerous powertrain enhancements and a top-notch sport interior.

With an arresting exterior appearance, that includes an aggressive front air dam that incorporates ample cooling airflow while improving aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle. This new Q-Series, the result of ongoing intense development and refinement, is guaranteed to continue Steeda Autosport's traditions of winning both on and off the racetracks.

With hundreds of hours of Computer Aided Design work completed, and extensive computer and wind tunnel analysis completed, as well as vigorous road coarse testing done in secret to avoid the prying eyes of spy photographers, we are confident that we have evoked the next evolution of our halo performance series that is completely without compromise today.

The development of this vehicle series is yet another example how the entire Team at Steeda Autosports takes great pride in designing, engineering, and manufacturing our products with the single goal of providing our discerning customers with the highest quality, race proven and track tested vehicles/components available anywhere.

"Simply put – no other car has won more races and set more records in production based classes than the Steeda Q Series of high performance Mustangs and I am confident that our 2010 version will carry on that same Steeda tradition" commented Dario Orlando, the founder of Steeda Autosports, "In all of our Q-Series of high performance Mustangs, we never compromise or take shortcuts, our customers who demand maximum performance, bullet-proof reliability, and class leading race honed styling wouldn't have it any other way!"

This latest evolution of the limited production Q-Series Mustang series will have it's official public debut at the 2009 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 3, 2009. Follow future Press releases for complete details about its official reveal – you will not want to miss it!

As the centerpiece of this year's Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show, Rhys Millen Racing (RMR) fabricated a Genesis Coupe with the award-winning 4.6-liter Tau V8 powerplant to develop the RM460 Genesis Coupe. The mid-engine configuration and enhancements create a 500-horsepower street car worthy of taking on any track or road course. Millen was drawn to the design similarities between the Genesis Coupe and the new Ferrari 599XX, which influenced the vehicle's classic low profile and race-inspired look. This marks the second year of the partnership between RMR and Hyundai creating show-stopping Genesis Coupes with the ultimate in aftermarket appeal.

"We've enhanced the original performance features and created a rear hatch for complete engine access and viewing pleasure," said Rhys Millen, owner, Rhys Millen Racing. "The Genesis Coupe platform combined with the Tau V8 borrowed from Hyundai's upscale Genesis sedan have allowed us to build a true show-stopper for SEMA. Placing the Tau V8 in the middle of the Genesis Coupe's architecture will improve vehicle handling, acceleration and braking and enhance the already dynamic driving experience."

The Tau V8 engine replaces the original back seat and maintains most of its original architecture with upgrades to eight individual throttle bodies and a set of JE pistons that bumps the compression ratio to 11.0:1. An engine management system by AEM has been added to speak to the factory Engine Control Unit (ECU) while maintaining all factory dash and gauge cluster functions. A Mendeola five-speed sequential transmission has been mounted to the V8 and tuned for a maximum speed of 182 mph. Suspension will be maintained by the original MacPherson strut dual-link front suspension and a five-link rear suspension setup, and upgraded with a KW coilover component.

"The RMR RM460 Genesis Coupe perfectly showcases the rear-wheel drive platform of the vehicle as well as the performance capabilities of the powerful Tau V8 engine, available in the 2009 North American Car of the Year Genesis sedan," said Michael Deitz, manager, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. "Rhys Millen Racing has taken the best of both worlds – the Tau's flexibility and the Coupe's tuner-friendly driving architecture – to create a hybrid powerhouse for this year's show."

The RMR RM460 Genesis Coupe will showcase HRE 560 Series 20-inch wheels, Toyo T1R tires and an industry-leading high-performance braking system by StopTech. Modifications to the chassis have been made to better accommodate the engine, including an impressive custom rear glass hatch conversion allowing better access to the engine.

On the outside, the RMR RM460 Genesis Coupe will feature a RMR Signature Edition kit, a carbon fiber spoiler and custom carbon fiber rear hatch. Custom RM ONYX HD paint is provided by BASF. Inside the vehicle will have Sparco Chrono sports seats, Sparco Alcantara and carbon fiber interior panels, and Infinity Kappa Perfect Speakers and power amplifier.
Just as soon as the Toyota FT-86 was born and came to this world at the Tokyo Motor show, it’s bigger, badder twin brother is about to hit the stage.

It’s well known that Subaru and Toyota have been in the same bed developing the FT-86 but one question that remains on everyone’s lips is how, if they are developing the same car, can the two be different? Well it’s emerged that Subaru has been busy waving their wand over the 086A/FT-86 and is going to bring some very Subaru style magic to the table.

The biggest news to come out of all this is that rumors of the car being turbo and all wheel drive are now in fact confirmed. However staff close to the Subaru development side of the project have revealed is that the first thing to differ will be the codes which the cars will be known by. While the version of the FT-86 to go on sale in Japan will be known by the code 086A and in the US and Europe as the 087A and 088A respectively, the Fuji Heavy Industries version will be branded as the 216A. This is to “clearly distinguish between the Toyota and Subaru version of the car”. Things get juicier from there though with the confirmation of what many have been suspecting all along. The car will be driven by a 2.0 liter turbo charged powerplant feeding power to all four wheels. This will either come in the flavor of a revised, lower power but more efficient 250ps and 34.0kg/m EJ20 from the Impreza 2.0 GT or the EJ20 Turbo from the current Impreza WRX STi pumping out 308ps and 43.0kg/m of torque. Our guess is the latter may well be used for an STi version of the car down the track. No pun intended.

Body wise, the the Subaru version will be bigger and badder but at the same time tipping the scales to the tune of around 100kg more than the 086A. This seems to be a reasonable weight gain seeing that 4WD has been added and the dimensions have been increased in the region of 20mm all around. Total height and width will go from 1260mm to 1280mm and 1760 to 1780mm respectively. Wheelbase and total lengths have also been extended, with overall length reaching 4180mm and the wheelbase gaining 30 to 50mm, up to around 2600~mm from 2570mm. This is almost spot on to the current Impreza’s 2620mm so the possibility of them sharing parts or being very similar is undoubtedly high. The final distinguishing factor between the two? Well that will be the price. The increased performance, all wheel drive and pumped body will be adding around half a million yen to the tag bringing the car to around 3 million yen come 2011. This is not only to cover the extras over the Toyota but also to distinguish itself from the FT-86 version.

Let's hope its true- :wish:
