^I just used regular semi-gloss spray paint that I picked up at Home Depot.

The borders that you saw were wallpaper borders. What a PITA....I used warm water with soap, soaked them a few times, let them sit and then went in with a scraper and got it all off. It takes some time, but well worth it. I didn't have to do any kind of texture repair, underneath it all, it was just like the wall.

Moved in this weekend - haven't had time to set up my router yet

Here are some preliminary pics, will have more to follow as we unpack/set up/etc....

I can't move.

By the way...this is the...most....comfortable....couch....EVAR

I'm going to be mounting the TV once I find a shelf that I want for underneath it...for now, using my TV stand.

There's still a ton of work left to do but at least we are out of the apartment and there isn't going to be any more running around back and forth.

Your place looks great!

Do you notice any echo with the hard flooring? I've been debating doing pergo/laminate flooring in my living room. I have vaulted ceilings so it's already sort-of echo-ey. I'm afraid non-carpet flooring will make the room echo even more!

^thanks guys.

I actually just noticed echo last night when we sat down to eat dinner....I think once the place is filled in with decorations, window treatments, etc it should go away.

I'm not the biggest fan of carpet, especially in high traffic areas like the living room and dining room. I had carpet installed Friday in the bedrooms.

I just finally hooked up my router, back to the real world, my Pre can rest now.

Here are some updated pictures:

The tempurpedic LOVE THIS BED!

I just put in the new medicine cabinet, need to mount the mirror still and still have a lot of finishing touches.

New carpet on the steps into the basement

Still need to put another layer of paint on the walls, then the floor is getting painted.

looks great, you've made a ton of progress.

You'll get to the point where I'm at where you cant find much else to do, then you feel kinda worthless about it

Damn! That is a ton of nice work you did - not even considering this was your first time with this stuff. Great job!

I also like the idea of the nails on the edges of the doors. Neat trick that I'm going to have to use.

Congrats again on the place, all the work and getting moved.

Floor in the unfinished part of the basement is drying and the shelves/extra closets are going in this week. The closet doors are up and the bathroom mirror is FINALLY hung after it found its place. I'll update with some pics later this week.

The LCD for the basement is coming on Friday so hopefully I'll be mounting the TV this weekend and the stand is going in the basement.

Today, I'm going to be hanging the LCD in the living room and taking the big TV stand in the basement along with the xbox 360. I will be making the basement more of a gaming (I play 1-2 times a month)/movie room and trying to keep the living room clean with just the LCD and just the cable box and possibly a DVD player. I'll update with some pics of the install later.

How are you going to hang the tv? And run the wires? I have to do the same thing (at some point) and was curious how others are setting everything up

I got a mount on Amazon, a Sanus. It had 5/5 after 161 reviews, cost $69.99; very happy with the product.

I am not going to have many electronics, just a DVD player and a Cable box so there aren't too many wires. My outlet is directly under the tv shelf, so I'm leaving that as is. I am contemplating moving the cable outlet to behind the TV; as it sits right now, it's not finished, I still need to conceal a few things.

I have seen people more the outlets up so they are behind the TV and you just kind of stuff the surge protector back there.

^Thanks!

Allright, I got some stuff from the hardware store that conceals wires. I don't really want to put in any more outlets/holes so here's what it ended up looking like.
