Everything is negotiable regardless if it's a big box retailer or a local store. Even more so in today's environment.

My personal experience is that if you can find a good local appliance shop you will get slightly better stuff (upgraded models) with similar pricing to the big box shops.

Beat most places by a ton of money, plus shipping is flat rate. Also I spent a lot of cash at Pacific Sales and they were pretty good about giving discounts. Also there are a lot of manufacturer rebates going on right now. |

+1 They've got good prices. Though, they're not the fastest shippers from my experience.

So the price of a newly built home didn't include any appliances or did you opt out of their appliance choices? What are you looking buy? I'm with doopstr and subinf - find a local "chain" store and negotiate. The more things you buy the more you can negotiate. I've used Pacific Sales for some major purchases and they were really good about working with me (though I did hit a few snags with delivery because an item was out of stock). |

The stock with pacific sales is hit or miss. They are pretty good about sending it from their various warehouses if it isn't on site, but if they are out nationally the order takes a little longer. Nice thing is that install is usually included if you aren't in to doing it yourself.

You can try HH Gregg. They're a bit pricey on the surface, but they'll deal. Just be prepared to play the game. They're like used car salesman. They'll go and "talk to the manager" and give you a deal that expires as soon as you walk out the door. But, if you can deal with that, you can get stuff at pretty decent prices. I got them to knock $600 off my TV. YMMV though.

All of the typical appliance stores will negotiate. If you really want to save money, hit up the scratch and dent store of a local chain. Definitely hit or miss, but say your refridgerator sits in an alcove and they have one that's scratched on the side...you save hundreds for something that will never impact you.

![]() Hit up the scratch and dent of your local Sears. A lot of time the items have very minimal damage, and most of the time it is places where you cannot see it (like the rear of a fridge). I've seen some sick deals on their high-end stuff either b/c it was a closeout (new model coming out), or it had some damage which you couldn't see and did not affect the operation of the equipment. |

I got a washer for $250 delivered earlier this year because it had a dent at the bottom of the front panel. No paint damage. Like I care what my washer looks like
. I guess some people use washers and dryers as show pieces ![]()

Floor models/dented appliances are generally great deals. If I wasn't given a new dishwasher from my friend I would have picked up an awesome Viking washer for cheap.

Hmm, weird. We actually just got a flyer last week from Sears advertising their latest scratch and dent/closeout items. Some steals in there. Hope they still have those deals when we build our next home!
