New System!

Realized after I posted that this should have gone in this thread

How I enjoy my late night projects. Finally stepped up and put my sound system back together. Thanks to Uncald4 I was able to take it to the next level! Thanks for the sick enclosure!

I didn't wanna mess around this time, did the sound mat, custom amp rack, and a real enclosure! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves:

I've seen a lot of this setup going on looking at various pix. Clean setup and like how everyone maintains their trunk space. I guess my only question with this setup is meeting the specifications of my sub(s). I don't want to take away from the volume required to allow it to hit as it should. Any loss with this type of side setup?

Haha, I don't know how you get it through our firewall. When I was running my wires I couldn't find a hole or plug so I ran it under the car. Little plastic conduit to cover up the power cable from dirt and stuff. I zip tied it to the bottom of the car. There is a plastic shroud that runs the length of the car and it worked nicely to mount the power cable. Small hole through the center of the trunk and brought it up through that!

Haha, thanks, I love that I have my entire trunk to use!

Not at all! Uncald4 builds his enclosures to the specs of the sub. That little plastic compartment that usually sits behind that light in our car has to be removed to fit the enclosure into its place. The enclosure is bigger than it looks. Its just hidden in that cavity behind the light.

Ahhhhh! now again, I wish I had not sold my Diamond Audio's! When I had my SUV's I was going to upgrade to 12's but never did. Glad I know a stereo guy that will hook me up with his dealer discounts off cost. That setup is hawt though.

That may be true, but its all a matter of personal taste. I was just giving you a hard time. Everyone has their own opinion about things. Just here to share the experience and show off the work.

If Dave knew how to do it himself to save the $$, he probably would've have.

Unfortunately not everyone has the expertise to do an enclosure like that. I know I don't.

Haha, true, true! I'm actually trying to build one with my friend. He liked how mine looks, but Travis doesn't have a mold for the Mustangs. Would be too $$. I'll let you guys know how its goes. Gonna finish it up tom, should be pretty nice!

You would have to ask uncald4 that question. He built the enclosure.

Unfortunately, that's what I thought...

Setup looks alright. Not what I would have done, but if it works for you, that's all that matters...

Thanks for being gentle, lol. I know its a pretty weak set-up compared to some of the stuff you put together. I am def happy with it though!

I'm actually getting ready to put together a smaller setup than what you have. It'll be nothing but a new hu and front component speakers. It'll be going in my 91 celica that will become my daily driver. Then I'll be able to park the Acura and use it for comps only. But, I'm only going to be upping the front speakers, rather than putting in subs. A good set of comps with some decent power will surprise most people...

That will be nice. I'd love to be able to put my Acura away and just take it out during the summer. Any chance of getting some pics of your setup (competition)? I've heard you talk about it but can't imagine what you have going.

My setup's actually pretty basic. Just 2 10s and a couple kws, ported, tuned at 30.125hz. A little bit of deadener, decent hu, ARC IDX crossover.

Actually, thanks for reminding me. I need to update my build log, both on here and CACO. I'll post a link to each when I get done. The one on CACO is more in depth than the one on here, but it's the same info...

Yeah for sure. I'm afraid to pull the door panels off. That is the one part of my car that I've never taken apart.

If it's anything like the 1st gen, they're literally nothing to it. I can have mine off, speakers out, and panels back on in 5 minutes. It's only a couple of screws/bolts. To take them off, takes like 30seconds to a minute max. They're extremely simple...

haha, yeah i've learned so much since i put my first set of 12's in my best buy box. just did a custom box for my buddies Cobra. thing slamms harder then my 12's did with just one 10''! its nuts!
Yeah, the first gen's are easy as pie. First time I took them off, it took a little longer just because I haven't done it. 2nd time, it was like 10 degrees out, so my hands were numb, so that made it a little difficult. After that though, it's easy...

As for quality over quantity, I know the feeling... My first setup was when I was 17, and it was a pair of 12" Kenwoods with a Rockford P200.2 amp. It did it's job (somehow) but I had no idea what I was doing. I went from that to a RF T1 10d2 sealed, and it rocked my acura for awhile. Then I found out what power is, and then I started getting louder...

Yeah i've got a second gen so i'm not sure about the door...lol. I've def come a long way from my first setup. I finally feel like i've got a solid system and its not a thousand damn pounds in the trunk and looks like it came off the shelf of best buy...
