What an incredible find, Terry! I'm a big 60's Ford fan. I remember you were interested in a 60s Ford at Barrett-Jackson a while back. I can't remember, was it a Fairlane or a Galaxy? Either way, from what I can remember it was a pretty rare car, I'm assuming another big block.

I guess finding an old rare car stashed away in a barn isn't something you just read about in Hot Rod magazine, it really does happen. That's so cool! Although I didn't experience that when I bought my Skylark, I did buy it from the original owner, who was in her late 70s and used a seat cushion to see over the steering wheel. I think just the experience of buying it from her made me love that car so much more than if I had bought it from a 2nd owner or a car lot. Provenance really does make such a huge difference in the way a car is valued, both monetarily and emotionally.

Good luck with the restoration and thanks for sharing this incredible story!

I was a '64 Galaxie with a 427 hi-riser. Almost............., but not quite. I still think about that car.

The experience of obtaining a collectible car is just as special as the car itself. The discovery, the ensuing phone calls, the legwork, and everything else. You learn about it's history and it's story. Sometimes the stories are tragic, sometimes happy, but whether you eventually get the car or not, you're always wiser from the experience.

One of the things that I will remember about this car was the owner's apology that she had missed a spot on the door while washing it. She felt the big Marauder should leave clean, so one day she took buckets and buckets of warm, soapy water from her house to the barn and washed a generation of dirt from it.

I was kind of expecting a small treasure once I got the trunk opened (it's been jammed closed since it went into storage) but nothing of the sort. The two heavy duty Kelsey-Hayes stamped steel wheels were a nice surprise however.

Sorry....I always thought of you as the G Rated poster.

What should we expect next? Noobs in the CL and TL section to search before asking retarded questions about offsets, Whiskers to stop posting, leg-humpers to leave female posters alone. Terry....I hope you have not destroyed the balance of this well oiled machine called A-zine.
