Colossally unbelievable. The level of monkey incompetence that made that install happen is staggering. Don't let the big shops do installs like that, people. Specialists only!

Love the Civic forums too; the OP included all the documents saying what had been damaged in the first post, then the posters below are asking what the damage was. Reading comprehension 101?

OK, I take it back, looks like all the info wasn't in the original post, that it was updated.

I didn't read all that but I'm sure the real cost would be a ton less the 12K from someone other then a dealer.

Lets help this guy out as much as we can. I'm posting this to other car forums; I've also submitted this to the Consumerist blog and encouraged the owner to do the same. I think the Powah of Teh Internets can speed a satisfactory resolution.

Yeah, I'm bored tonight.

Screw that shitty ass company. I hope Best Buy utterly destroys them into oblivion. I'm ashamed to say that I ever worked there.... though not as an installer. Poor Civic Si owner.... now you know.

I am amazed as to how many people are astonished at the job quality. Its a known fact that getting a audio install at these places is like getting your teeth worked on by the blacksmith.

BB is no better than CC

Oh, and CC owes this guy a new SI.

Not all of their installers are that bad.... but most of them could give less of a crap as evidenced here. I knew the guy in the install bay pretty well though so he took his time and carefully did the install on my brother's car and nothing went wrong. However, that guy quit and the other 3 installers back there I wouldn't even trust with my own worst enemy's car

You're right... BB is even worse. I just had the displeasure of experiencing how terrible CC treats its employees and customers firsthand. There is so much BS going on behind the scenes, its unbelievable. I'm hoping I get laid off from CC and get some sort of compensation package. They think we're stupid or something.... they've been hiring people at $9.00 when last year I got hired, they hired people anywhere from $9.50 to $11.00 to start. I pointed it out to some of my longer tenured non-management coworkers and they agree that there's something going on.

Sorry if it sounds like I have a grudge with this company, because I do. I learned more about the company layoffs a year ago from someone here on AZ who used to work for CC. I never did any shopping at CC before I started working here and once I leave that place I won't be doing any future shopping. But what you physically need and nothing else.

I could give a crap if someone from corporate is reading this. I'll be gone soon anyway. I don't regret working for CC at all though, I met some great non-management people and I learned a lot about corporate douchebaggery, so much that it makes me want to shit in the CEO's dinner. Like my dumbass supervisors like to say, "it comes from the top down" right?

^Its kinda obvious, but there is proof for ya.

Didn't they open some new stores nationwide though? Maybe they closed more stores many times over than they opened new ones

Well I guess lesson learned is do not let big box stores fuck with your ride. There's a reason why your local audio shop charges a premium if you can't do it yourself, just like your dealer. BB and CC FTL, at least at Future shop here because they are commissioned all prices are subject to the sales person and have been for years even before BB bought them.

Ma & Pop stores FTMFW or specialty none chain stores.

I used to work with a doctor who used to do system installs when he was younger. He would tell me never bring it to the shops because they cut/break things and never tell the customer. He taught me how to install my own systems and I have done two of my own ever since. I don't have any electrical background but it aint THAT hard to install systems. but man 12k$ in damages.. they must have chimpanzees working on that guy's SI. yikes.

I take offense to that being a CC employee. CC has over 600 stores, if one screws up you cant blame them all. We havent had a single issue with our installs in years. And as the post in the thread says, if the dealer cut the BS and gave him a real quote his car would be fixed sooner.

My only advice to you is to grow thicker skin and work at a real car audio shop.

Just like how if one store screws up you can't blame em all, just because one store does em right doesn't mean you can trust em all.

I am proud to work there actually. Every company has screw ups, thats just life. I also dont work there for car audio, our selection sucks and isnt my taste. I would be embarassed to install the low end crap we sell. I am in the PC dept. My hobby is car audio tho, I dont mix hobbys and work.

I am also not defending that store. I know for a fact all of our stores arent perfect. I only can take pride in what I can control and thats my store.

The PC department.... thats even worse.

Circuit City's protection plans and firedog services easily cost 1.5x - 2x the cost of what others like Best Buy, Sony, and Walmart have to offer....

I'm sooo glad I have several friends that are experienced car audio/video installers. That guy needs to sue CC for that . Especially since they were avoiding him when he brought it to their attention.

Our services are actually the same or lower as far as prices go. I know since I have secret shopped all the stores in my area. And dont start comparing out warranty to walmarts. First, you cant take them into a store for help. Its only a ship out service. It starts after your MFG warranty has expired. So, for example, if you have a power surge within that year your SOL. Also they only run $20-50 less, which is ok if want that much less coverage. Best Buys warrantys are cheaper since they sell you a 3 year warranty. We have 2 and 4 year terms, so of course their 3 year is going to be less then our 4 year. But its also more then our 2 year. Gotta compare apples to apples man.

except walmart takes returns no questions asked without reciepts as long as you still have everything that came in the box and they still sell it.

Sounds like a scam to me. There is no way that will cost 12K to fix.
