I called a local mold remediation company. The guy said it wasnt bad and treated it for free. He poured some chemical cocktail on it and scrubbed it off. He told me to wait a day, let it dry then spray it with kills to seal it in and everything would be fine. The subfloor is intact.

I gave him $20 for lunch and his time. Phew, that worked out nicely.

Awesome. Glad you got a professional opinion and that he said don't bother replacing. In these times I'm surprised he didn't find mold everywhere.

I'm glad too, he said it looked fine and wasn't worth billing. It took him 3 minutes to scrub up everything.

Glad you called a remediation guy. Looking at the photos, the mold just seemed to be surface mold which would need treatment, but not replacement.
Now find out the reason for the mold growth to prevent it from coming back.

The previous owners were obviously retards and did shit half assed. This is evidenced by the fact that none of the appliances, counter tops or fixtures are secure.

I believe they took the bathroom sink out and water got everywhere. They then layed floor themselves () before the subfloor finished drying.

Wow, he didn't charge you anything?! That's awesome! I'd definitely return the favor and recommend his services to anybody you come across that may need them.

How bad was the smell when you first looked at the place and when you moved in? We took a very quick look at a house yesterday that looked nice in the photos. We get there to find that all the furnishing in the pics weren't there (no biggie) but there was all kind of misc crap and the worst urine stench I have ever encountered. I think we were lucking that the house had no power so we couldn't turn on the lights. The stench stuck to us and we had to shower when we got home.

^ One of the worst smells is walking into a house where somebody crapped in the toilet before checking if the water was turned on. It's very very very nasty.

It wasn't bad bc they had the AC cranked. Live and learn. It's not a huge issue anyway. The subfloor doesn't smell so with new floors we'll be fine.

That's good. This place was already solid hardwood foors and it smelled horrible. I don't even know if it's possible to get the smell out without stripping the place down to the studs.

Just like my door jambs and molding => once its soaked into the wood, it's there forever.

Just saw this thread. Congrats on the house, Chris! Looks like a lot of work, but it also looks like it hasn't been/won't be that bad (big picture). Looking forward to updates.
