whey protein...it's a food supplement.
people who weight train a lot tend to have higher protein requirements so they supplement their diet with protein shakes

or not.

its a caloric substitue opposed to a meal. Its caloric content just happens to come from protein more over then any other area, in fact, if you dont work out and drink it opposed to eating a meal, youd prob lose fat.

Considering all the shitty food out there right now, id say , knock yourself out.

It's protein in an easily prepared form that is quickly absorbed by the body.

Whey is a great way to increase the protein in your diet.

Edit: is this stuff pure whey protein, or some sort of "mass gainer"? What does the label say?

pure whey protein. it actually tastes great when you mix it up with milk; like a milkshake. i'm not working out right now though so I doubt it's helping me much.

Related topic: I dont like chocolate or banana flavored stuff. I have tried GNC's vanilla whey protein, and I used to like it but anymore, it doesn't mix well and tastes aweful. Anyone reccommend any non-choclate/banana whey proteins? Don't have to be GNC (prefer not since its soo fawking expensive).

whey rocks.....it's protein from milk. YOu don't need to be lifting heavy to have it. It's a great low cal snack or desert. You're body needs protein even if you aren't exercising and in amount you get per serving you will not get fat by taking it. Normally it's 20-40 grams per serving.

I just picked up mixed berry GNC brand

just an observation, protein is very important, obvious yes but still I've been lazy and hadn't picked up whey in a few weeks and protein intake was low. Had a scoop last night and man I can really feel the difference this morning.
