Yea but imagine pulling up to a light with an F430 next to you, and being able to stay neck and neck with him when the light turned green and you guys go at it.

I'd love to see the look on the Ferrari's owners face when you're next to them or passing them down the line

F430 = getting invited to a crazy lesbian orgy
M5 = sex with an ugly chick

Both get the job done, but you'll have more fun doing it in an F430.

And this really shouldnt even be a contest. No person in their right mind would take an M5 over a F430. Both are unbelievable cars, but a Ferrari is a Ferrari.

Don't feel bad, I think the STi is pretty ugly too.

I like the 05 but if I were to buy one, I'd go with a FMIC + impreza hood, and rip off that stupid wing on the back.

This comparison is BS. First, look at the power to weight advantage that the F430 has over the M5. The F430 is aerodynamic and well geared, so that's not a factor. Next, whom was driving this car? The M5 leaving the F430 in the dust in the corners????

Yea, I mean you can't compare the looks of an exotic sports car coupe to that of a sports luxury sedan. It's just not fair. Of course everyone is going to choose the Ferrari.

But if you were to compare the M5 to let's say an E55 AMG then that would be a more evenly matched comparison, both are sedans, both are luxury cars, both are high end sports models.

You can though compare the specs on them because that is objective. The looks are all a matter of personal preference.

basically they are trying to compare my dream daily driver (M5) and weekend toy (F430)...

i don't think they were trying to say one is clearly better than the other, the goal of the article was to show how well the M5 can perform and compete with a exotic like a ferrari... both are two of the hottest cars in their categories...

This is very interesting because it means that the M5 accelerates at least as well as a Ford GT if not better. That's amazing for a car that large and with room for four. It's even more amazing when one looks at its price.

Look at the last page.. 0-60 in 4.6 seconds for the M5.

It also has 4.4 seconds for the F430. I have no idea who is driving the Ferrari, but they do need lessons.

The M5 will not be nearly as close as the Ford GT in acceleration. Every figure I've seen for the M5 is in the mid 4's compared to mid 3's for the GT.

As much as I like BMW's, this isn't the case. Somthing doesn't add up in this test. I will wait until C&D or MT tests the car to get a realistic comparison.

Motortrend already tested the F430 F1 vs Ford GT, posted faster times and the GT was still the faster car.
