All cali meet | norcal caravan info
ok guys, lets keep this thread pertaining to the norcal caravan info ONLY please.
if you want to talk about the meet itself, here is the main thread https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...&goto=lastpost
Saturday June 30th, 2007
Target Store Parking lot
170 Cochrane plz, Morgan Hill, CA
Meeting at 8:00am
Leaving at 8:30am SHARP
from here, we can just hop directly onto 101s and head all the way down to the meet. Mapquest estimates a travel time of about 3 hours.
link to map
please get to target on time, if you miss us, then dont worry, just continue on down 101 and we'll see you at the meet!
This is the best spot I could think of, its directly off the freeway, allowing easy access so we dont get split up. It is a large parking lot to accommodate all of us. Its also located further south of the bay area, so it helps in funneling everyone down to a central point.
reminders:
check tire pressure
full tank of gas
bring a walkie if you have one
drive safe!

how far away is highway 101 from I-5?
I'm coming from way up north.
Edit: Nevermind, looks like an extra hour from where I'll be at. Still cool with me.

you have to eventually hop on 101 anyways, so its up to you. is there anyone else coming from WA? Hopefully there is, I would feel bad if you had to make the trip alone.

One thing that I'd like to address too, will cops be all huffy and puffy about my loud exhaust and not having a front license plate? Even when I put the quad mag muffs on, I'm sure my exhaust will still be kinda loud. I just some things to think about.

^ I had some cheapy Motorola's, then decided to "upgrade" to some 7 mile range Midland's. The Midland's didn't work good at all. Maybe I just got a bad batch, but you can't go wrong w/ Motorola.

Bah, Every Norther California meet seems to be in the bay area. I dread taking 152 again and taking 132 would be the long way. Then again if this is a good turn out it will be well-worth while.

It's near Pismo Beach. No need to hop on 132, but you would have to hit the 152. Unless there's a different way to get there.

Yes, I understand that, my fault for the miscomunicated post. But to be with the Acura Caravan I've gotta go to the Bay Area. I don't mind the drive and all, but sometimes I wish there were more Local Acuras near the Central Valley I guess that's what I'm trying to say

sup guys.. well.. as i said.. i was going to take pics of the Mervyn's/Target parking lot, and here they are..
Here is the mervyn's parking lot.. It's really roomy and exit is right next to it, not alot of cars as you can see...
Here is the Target Parking lot
For all of you comming from san jose, be sure to make a left when you see this sign. It's right after you make a right on Cochrane.. So just be sure to go all the way to the left lane after that right on cochrane.

thanks for taking the time and getting those pics AcuraTLboi, how far away is the Mervyn's parking lot from the target one? if its real close, then I dont need to change the address or anything, plus im sure people would see this huge group of acuras and know thats us
CaliChris517,
I hope you can make it, it'll be a long drive for all of us, but so much fun with a huge acura caravan

Mervyns is in the same plaza as Target. No speedbumps or steep entrances (I work in the business park behind this plaza). My only advice for this spot is to be there early. The intersection can become quite busy. Also, for reference (in case you should become lost), there is an In-n-Out Burger across from Mervyns
I may have to make it out to this event with you guys.
btw, i drive a 4G integra/rsx (bleh)

Alternatively, you can also jump off the 41 at Creston, a few miles east of Altascadero and head south on 229 to 58 west into Santa margarita. Then finally south on the 101 to SLO.
Or for the ultimate in crappy drive, just go down the 99 to the 41 in fresno all the way to 41/46 to Altascadero then south on the 101. It's boring and has too many cars. I take the route I originally described because it's pretty empty and plenty fast.
It's kind of a mess thinking about the route. But goto Google, and google it using plain old map, not satellite or hybrid.
And why in the world would you take 132 to SLO????? That's WAY WAY WAY out of the way. Along with 152. 132 should only be take from say.... waterford to coulterville then all the other twisties from there. I would never take 132 for anything else. If you're using it to get to the bay, patterson to del puerto canyon to san jose would be the most fun. For speed, just good old 99 to 120 to 205 and 580 is the best. Or even 140 to 152 to 101 north to san jose/ bay. I assume you're only talking about taking 132 or 152 to san jose and NOT SLO anyways, lol. For that get together to caravan down to SLO from Morgan Hill, I'd just go that 140 to 152 to Gilroy route.
There's plenty of ways to go. I've spent many tanks of fuel in my motorcycle and in my car and truck to find alternative routes. Good Luck with your choice.

Found out there is a 5 minute limit on edits even though it should be unlimited if you're still the last post. Anyhow here's my EDIT since I read more into this thread:
For tret
132 should only be take from say.... waterford to coulterville then all the other twisties from there. I would never take 132 for anything else, the rest is worthless. If you're using it to get to the bay, skip 132 completely and go River rd in Livingston area to patterson to del puerto canyon to san jose would be the most fun. For speed, just good old 99 to 120 to 205 and 580 is the best. Or even 140 to 152 to 101 north to san jose/ bay. For that get together to caravan down to SLO from Morgan Hill, I'd just go that 140 to through gustine and santa nella to 152 to Gilroy route. That's alot of extra miles though, I'd just head through Madera solo to the final meet.
