Just started building my dream house . . .

. . . an 8 car garage with a small "apartment" over it. The two garages are post and beam structures built out of ponderosa pine from the Northern US. The garage will be heated and cooled, have a couple of lifts and big screens, and an indoor wash bay. The apartment will have one bed, one and half baths, a kitchen, eating area, and my big screen. The second floor of the other garage will house the pool table and other big screen. Anyways, on to the pics (taken with my iPhone, so excuse the quality).

When we started to excavate, we assumed that we were going to hit rock (the new place is in the hill country of Texas). What we didn't plan for though, was rock the size of my Viper. I am not sure how I am going to incorporate it in to the plan, but I think that I have to use it somehow.

Just to give you an idea of size, this is my "little" 6'4" brother.

And the beginning of one of the pad sites.

It is his idea of a house to us that actually have a different view on what a house is it is a garage with a living space above it.

Nope, this place is forever mine. Should I end up getting married, moving, etc-this place will end up being a little getaway place and a place to store toys.

Silver-the plan is to fill it!

Grayson, I'm really happy for you brother! The only thing missing will be a track for us to play on, in the backyard!
I can't wait to come down and see this bad boy when it's finished!!! Dude, I'm soo stoked!
I mean I used tons of exclamation points in this thread without knocking any holes in the walls

Not much of an update-it rained way too much this weekend.

We got a lot of the rocks moved out of the way . . .

. . . and started on leveling one of the pad sites . . .

And then it rained-so I jumped in the FJ and played around a bit

The weather has cooperated with us (err, the workers ) so the excavation is almost done.

We ran into some even bigger rocks (read around 15 tons) and had to hire another backhoe (with a hammer) to help get the last few big ones out.

The pad site work is nearing completion!

Luckily for me, we dug up a lot of good material to use as road base-so that phase is now under way (and a glimpse at my new Tundra).

This hill is actually a bit steeper then it looks-we had to use a lot of fill to "level it out" as best as we could.

Smoke and Mirrors I would really apreciate NOT having two houses now-it is sucking me dry. However, even in Austin (supposedly still a hot market), things are slowing down.[/url]
