Opinion: Keep the TL or get the G35x?

Hey guys, need some opinions.

I have a 96 2.5TL with 234K on the clock. It's starting to act up a little bit and I don't want to deal with being stranded anywhere.

I found a 05 G35x one owner - 44K miles, bumper to bumper warranty until May of 09, power train until 70K or 6 years I believe - $13900 (I know! Good price)

What do I do? I just put new tires on the TL and it's nice not having a car payment but I'm starting to think it's time to move on - more to just have a piece of mind.

I'm going to take a close look at the G tomorrow morning..

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the sport too! Very fun car but this is the AWD auto sedan...not as much fun but nice for WI winters and a nice car over all.

Did you drive the 6MT?

get G35x, gosh man, i would either sell, trade in, give that TL 234K miles to a relative. it's done it's duty. time to move on! plus, if you fix it, the cost of repair are more expensive than what the car is worth. makes no sense to me, unless you have a sentimental attachment to the TL.

No it was the automatic gearbox which I thought was a good match for the engine. If I recall correctly, they got a minor facelift in 05 right? The price does seem pretty low though, make sure everything is fine.

I don't care what car it is, at 234k miles, its not going to get anymore reliable or dependable. That's something to be proud of, but not having the peace of mind to drive your car and not worry about it breaking down on you isn't worth it.

I don't really like the old G35 sedan either, and AFAIK they didn't make the coupes in AWD. But that's one hell of a deal.

I say keep the TL.
Then again, I'm cheap and just wouldn't want the car note.

EDIT: Then again, if repairs are constantly necessary, it may not be worth it. Idk.

I looked around at prices and it's legit. The dealer has about 10 G35's in stock and I looked it up on manheim to see what they're selling for at the auction. This guy buys them, doesn't do anything to them and sells them for $1000-1500 more. I already know it needs tires but my buddy has a set with 8K miles on them from his G so I can put those on it. I'm going to go check it out today in a couple of hours. He also has an 05 with 33K miles on it for 14990. :o

I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks for the opinions!

If this was a 05 sedan with sport and 6MT that came with a set of winter tires, I wouldn't even be questioning anything...

that's a good deal.

if the car is solid, and you can handle the payments, then i'd get the G.

Well, the G was not that nice. To be honest, I think the miles are rolled back judging by the condition it's in.
I found a 06 Mazda6 V6 with 33K miles on it, it's a grand touring model with BOSE, htd leather, moon-roof, spoiler, 18" wheels, warranty till 50K...My friend took it in trade and giving it to me for trade-in value. It's very clean inside and out, 2 owners. Silver with black interior. It just needs tires..what do you guys think? 12300 + tax...and plus tires.

I think you should just wait a bit and all the car prices should go down by a lot. People will be returning leased cars because they lost their jobs and can't make payments. Dealers will drop prices just to sell any car new or used. And one or more of the Detroit three will fold and flood the market with cheap cars. It would be stupid to buy one of those, but it will depress the prices of all cars.

like many have said, this is a no brainer. youve gone relatively maintence free for a 234k car. move on...this is a good investment to move on to...

i dont know your personal financial situation, but if you could find a good deal for a g37, snag it. if youre in the the market, abuse the fact that used cars are a steal right now. then you wont be pounding your head for going from a older generation to another older gen (g35). you obviously dont mind high miles...check out high miled g37 for cheap.

Is this the dealer selling the G35's http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/ctd/927712485.html ? This guy always has a lot of them and his prices seem pretty good. If it is it's too bad they aren't that nice because the prices are usually good.

Yup that's the dealer; the prices are def always good....I've looked at a few there and I didn't like them.
The silver one you sent is actually 14,990 and also not that great. He buys a lot of G35x's
