Very nice!! I really like what you've done, so far.
As for that tile in the kitchen, I had the same small tile like that in my kitchen...what a PITA!

Silestone. Didn't have the cash for granite.
Hopefully end of October. Trying to decide whether to just recarpet the living room or to put down wood and then use area rugs. That is pretty much the last big thing that needs to be sorted out |

What's the plan for the area surrounding the water heater? And, what's the material you used on the tub surround? I haven't seen anything like that before.
Looking good... |

Washer dryer were delivered but the guys forgot the kit to mount the washer on top - that will be delivered sometime next week.
![]() I don't know what happened to the other picture Also finally put the finishing coat on the kitchen and ceiling so I was able to get this door back on. I like this set up. Now I just need to stock the wine ![]() Counter people are coming tomorrow. Then it will actually look like a functional kitchen because the stove and everything else will go in |

Counter top was installed today. I have to wait 24 hours for all the glue and sealer to settle before I can install the stove and dishwasher.
![]() I ran out of pergo the last few square feet so I had to buy some shit just fill in just so I could slide the stove in on a even surface. ![]() ![]() ![]() Apparently they didn't make levels in the 70's...took quite a few shims to get the counter level. Going to be interesting to see how I fill this gap. ![]() |

Nice faucet. Delta or Kohler? I'm rocking the brushed chrome scheme too.

if you went with an instant Hot water heater you might be able unstack those and build a nice counter over top, it's easy spending other peoples money ![]()

Very nice work. Looks really good and I'm sure all your work is paying off.
A couple of questions/comments: 1. Where did you get those cabinets? It looks like they are white on the outside but wood on the inside? Did they come like that? 2. On the floors in the kitchen it looks like you installed all the segments evenly (in a grid). I thought they should be installed in a staggerred pattern. ![]() ![]() 3. How much help did you have? That was a lot to tackle all at once. Can't wait to see the finished pics. |

2) The pic regarding the floors - that was just so I could see whether I liked the color. I pulled them all up and did them in staggered segments. 3) A good friend is a builder so he did the bulk of the work regarding leveling the cabinets and getting them installed. The counter top installation was included in the purchase price (thank fucking god). I did the floors, most of the plumbing, installation of appliances, etc. For the bathrooms I had a friend do the tile. I'm installing the cabinets and sinks sometime this week. I'm not even thinking about trying to tackle the carpet. Last edited by subinf; 10-06-2009 at 2:10 PM. |

Thanks for the info on the cabinets. Were they off the shelf of special order?
Glad to hear about the floors. I'd hate to see them start buckling. Having a contractor/builder friend makes things a lot easier. I need to start making new friends. ![]() Congrats again. |

I would recommend installing a stand underneath the washer to raise it up as much as possible...it makes doing laundry more convenient + you will reduce the gap at the top...looks good though!

And yes, having him help out made everything much easier. And the access to his tools is also nice. I considered that, but the back ceiling slants down so there isn't much room to lift them. I removed the upper trim and doors from the space to allow for an easy install. |

Thanks again for the cabinet info.
Another problem would be actually accessing the controls on the washer(?) on top if it was raised any higher. I just noticed the doors open on opposite sides. Good idea for side by side, but will take a while to get used to when stacked. |

Yeah I saw that about the doors when they were put in. Not sure if it will be annoying - I figure they were like that for side by side.
The pain in the ass part today is trying to figure out how to get the bathroom vanities level when the wall isn't at a right angle. |

Sucked getting these level because the walls are not 90 degrees. After a few shims and some 1x1 filler wood they seem good enough. Gluing the tops on in about an hour

Been sort of slow lately, mainly b/c I don't know what color to paint everything.
![]() ![]() ![]() Stupid imageshack isn't rotating the last image. Mirror is going underneath the fixture as soon as I get a color I like. The gray I used for the downstairs bathroom doesn't look as good in this one b/c there isn't a granite counter, just the white. |
