Question Aftermarket alarm vs. Factory alarm

I had an aftermarket alarm/remote starter installed on my 97 2.2 but the installer left the factory alarm active. When I remotely start my car the factory alarm goes off. In order to avoid this, I have to disarm the aftermarket alarm (which disarms the factory alarm) before starting the car remotely. Having both alarms active is getting to be annoying in general. How can I disable the factory alarm without affecting the anything else so that the only active alarm is the aftermarket?

All I know is that my car does not have a chip in the key and I don't think there is one single fuse for the factory alarm.

Take it back to the Installer. They should have done it right the first time IMO..

Well that's the first thing I did. He said that only the Acura dealer can deactivate it which I know is not true. He basically doesn't know how to deactivate it. So I figured someone here would so I can just doo it and get it over with avoiding a big fuss.

I'd tell him to either fix the problem, or remove the alarm and give you your money back. Then you can take it to a shop that knows what they are doing.

The factory system disarms with unlock. Some remote start systems can be programmed to unlock before start. This will fix the problem. If it doesn't have that, then it should have some sort of ground output prior to starting that could be used to trigger the unlock. What brand and model system did you get?
