RD-X ?????????

Could possibly be mistaking the information previously posted for the upcoming RD-X. That was reported by Justin as having 200hp engine and 50hp battery for a hybrid-combo 250hp. Also he revealed it would have the 6sp clutchles manual.

Hopefully the same technology is relevent for both a AWD TSX and the RD-X???

I doubt it'll ever come true, but has Justin ever had anything to say about this other than there was an AWD Accord in the US for testing?

That has got to have the biggest dual exhausts in the history of a normally aspirated 4-cylinder car. Looks ridiculous.

Kit looks nice.

DAMN, I was just about to rip into you until I read "normally aspirated 4-cylinder car"! I was gonna mention the IS and some other car (can't think of it but I think it was boosted). I will say that the IS one is pretty big for a slow ass 6 cyclinder.

So Honda is trying to charge another $4k for these upgrades? How much profit Honda is going to make on this? $3k? Come on, if it adds another 40hp and 20lb-ft of torque, it is okay. But just the look and suspension? Not worth it.

The Acura A-SPEC package for the TSX is priced at $4,330 plus dealer installation and, like all A-SPEC kits, is covered under a full factory warranty. Additionally, the suspension kit can be purchased separately for $800. The TSX A-SPEC kit includes:

* High performance Yokohama P215/50R17 93V tires
* Aero kit featuring:
o Air dam

"The TSX A-SPEC package builds on the success of the TL A-SPEC accessory package released last year and further strengthens Acura's performance accessory program," said Acura's manager of accessory marketing, Stony Furutani. "The A-SPEC kit enhances the TSX's already sporty performance by adding components like high performance tires and track-tuned shocks and springs."

Acura A- SPEC is a complete dealer installed accessory package that addresses the demands of performance enthusiasts by providing enhanced handling, aggressive looks, quality and durability, while maintaining the legendary Acura driving experience.

Ok - so who's gonna get one? $4330 says ... not many of us ... come on Acura

Maybe my Acura dealer connection can get it at a steal, but $3K tops is what I might pay - you guys?

P.S. Where's our Brembo upgrade?

All show, no go. Well... almost. The rims oughta be an improvement, as well as the shocks, but they still don't make a too great package. :thumbsdn:

good question, one of the prototype acura show TSXs had a deck lid. if its priced right, that'd be a nice alternative to painting the m3 lip spoiler

Can you just purchase specific parts of the kit. I hear alot of the TL owners are able to purchase just the suspension, brakes, wheels, with out the exterior features. Any word if Acura is letting people do this with the TSX? Also, no steering wheel? TL comes with a special TL with blue stitching

Yeah - this is over the top ... I mean the CL/TL vs. TL/TL-S pricing wasn't that differnt (but I guess you still had to pay extra for the body kit, etc.).

Hmmm..... This shows tires as being part of the package. It was reported a couple of weeks ago that tires were not going to be part of the package; mainly I suppose because the stock rubber will fit the new rims, so this would help keep the price down.

They probably changed their minds because the A-Spec package needs to have performance tires, and the stock tires clearly do not qualify.

As a side note, if you go to tirerack.com and punch in the TSX, and then list stock size tires that will fit, only the OEM tire comes up in the list. There's a note about the car needing to have an XL load rating. I called them up and asked about this, and they claim that for liability reasons, that can't sell other tires for the TSX. While I find this hard to beleive, that's what the guy said. I wonder if the fact that Acura is now shipping the Yokkie ES100s that the Tire Rack will sell these too?

As far as pricing goes, you can buy the kit on eBay for around $3200; I would think most dealers would be glad to meet this price if you showed them the ad.

I think $3200 is a more than fair price for this package. All of the reviews I have read about the A-Spec/HFP suspension has been great, and they are backed by the factory. If you were to buy aftermarket struts/springs, you'd be looking at a minimum of $800, and they'd be some off the shelf fitment-certainly not a unit that was designed/tested for the TSX. Wheels/tires you're looking at an easy $1400 for something decent, and another $1000 for a body kit. I would much rather have a factory painted kit, and wheels that are the correct size/offset/hub size.

I'm glad they've been breaking the sets though, because in this case, I want the struts/springs, but I'm going with the Euro body kit (still OEM!) and I dont feel the need to change the rims. I do need better tires though. Wish they had the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S in our size....

Just my $0.02

Actually, what about the shocks/springs you can buy separately? Or they worth it? Or is aftermarket better?

A-Spec struts/springs can be purchased on eBay for around $600.00. They come fully assembled and ready to bolt onto the car. They lower the car about 1", and are about 10% firmer than stock. The ride quality will still be like your factory ride. The rears will push the outer limits of camber; I've seen -1.9, which is past spec of -1.5. In my opinion, this will not cause a problem, but if it bothers you than simply add a camber kit. The best thing about this kit is that it's designed for the car, and the strut is designed for the spring.

If you add just aftermarket springs, you risk blowing out the OEM struts, which are not designed to be run constantly at 1" or more of compression. Adding Konis will solve that problem, but now you're well over $600.00; more like $800 probably, and the setup still isn't custom tuned to the TSX. You'll also have to disassemble your factory struts to get the neccesary parts to build your combo-bearings/perches etc...This setup will also remove any semblance of ride quality, although many people are looking for that "race-car" ride, and if that's you, hey, that's cool too!

I just called Acura about the A-Spec package and the parts guy said "uh, what's an A-Spec?"

Go figure

How come if it changes the camber, Acura by default doesn't offer a kit to compensate? I guess it doesn't matter under warranty, and they must believe that it's not a problem. For $600, this seems pretty good, especially if you can purchase it at the time you get the car. Most cars look a lot better IMO lowered an inch.
