Acura TSX 2004-2008: How to Replace Tail Light Bulbs

It is illegal to drive your Acura TSX with a burnt out tail light bulb, and for good reasons. Having burnt bulbs could be a safety hazard at night, so if your tail light bulb is burnt, it's time to take action. Although this is a simple procedure, the dealership will charge as much as they can possibly charge for it, and even though the bulb is four to eight dollars, they will add five times that for labor. Whether you're a big DIYer or you just want to save money, this article will show you how you can easily replace your tail lights bulb and get back on the road safely and legally.
Materials Needed
- Phillips screwdriver
- Light bulb
Step 1 – Remove trunk liner
Open the trunk of your Acura, then remove the liner where you will be replacing the bulb behind. Note that the tail light splits in half, one side goes up with the trunk, while the other side stays down. So depending on the burnt bulb, remove the liner behind it. You just need to remove the clips with your Phillips screwdriver, then move the liner out of the way.
Step 2 – Remove bulb assembly
To remove the desired bulb, hold the plastic part that the bulb is attached to, then twist it counterclockwise for half a turn, it should unclip and pull straight out.
Step 3 – Replace the bulb
To replace the bulb, hold the plastic base, then pull the bulb straight out. Install the new one in place by just pushing it in place. Install the bulb assembly, but this time twisting it clockwise to clip it in place. Install the liner back in place and gently tighten the clips.
