This article applies to the Acura TSX (2009-2014).

Regardless of year and mileage, you'll need to get your TSX serviced at regular intervals. This typically means more than simply changing the oil and rotating the tires. Acura suggests a number of services to help keep your vehicle in top shape. However, many owners are left wondering about the differences between the A1 and B1 services. If your car is due for service soon, here's a closer look at what's included in the A1 and B1 services.

Component Breakdown

Overview

As you're driving you may notice an A1 or B1 service reminder. Many Acura owners wonder what the main differences are between the two service intervals. According to the Acura website, one of the main distinctions is that the engine oil is replaced during an A1 service while the engine oil and filter are replaced during a B1 service. A number of additional inspections are performed during the B1 service interval.

A1 Service

When you see an A1 service message on your vehicle's information display, it likely means that the car is due for an oil change. In many cases a tire rotation will also be performed during this service interval. As with the B1 service message, the A1 reminder typically depends on the vehicle's age and mileage rather than a designated service interval.

B1 Service

As with the A1 service, B1 includes tire rotation and replacing the oil. Additional perks include replacing the engine oil filter, servicing front and rear brakes, as well as inspecting components such as the parking brake adjustments, suspension, exhaust system, and fuel lines. All fluid levels and conditions should be inspected and checked for leaks.

Common Questions

Is my warranty void if I don't take the car to a dealership?

Several TSX owners agree that bringing the vehicle to a location other than the dealership for A1 or B1 services won't void the warranty. However, it's a good idea to hold onto receipts and any other relevant paperwork if the work is done outside of a dealership.

Can I bring my car to a Honda dealership?

A handful of TSX owners have found that bringing their vehicle to a Honda dealership can help save money. It's best to call ahead to confirm that you can make an appointment for your TSX at a Honda dealership.
