Acura TSX 2009-2014: How to Install HID Fog Lights

Here's how to install HID fog lights on your 2nd gen TSX.

This article applies to the 2nd Gen Acura TSX (2009-2014).

If you live in an area that experiences frequent fog, you know how hard (and dangerous) it can be to navigate through it. Fog can reduce your visibility down to virtually nothing and make it impossible to see what's in front of you. This is where old school, halogen fog lights just don't cut it. You can greatly improve your ability to see in foggy conditions by replacing them with a set of HID fog lights. It's a pretty easy and relatively inexpensive upgrade that you will be happy to have next time you venture out on a foggy morning drive.

Materials Needed

  • HID conversion kit with ballasts
  • Double-sided tape
  • Zip ties

Removing the front bumper makes this job much easier, though it isn't technically required. If you choose not to remove the bumper, you can jack the car up and remove the bottom lining from the bumper by releasing the clips and pulling it out. This will allow you to access the fog lights, but you will still have little room to work with when it comes to mounting the ballasts. Step 1 – Install the HID fog light bulbs

Remove the factory fog light bulb from the housing and replace it with the HID bulb, being careful not to touch the actual bulb with your fingers. (The grease from your fingers can cause the bulb to crack when hot.) Connect the factory wiring harness to the bulb. Connect the factory wiring harnesses into the ballast.

Step 2 – Mount the HID fog light ballasts

Locate a suitable flat surface nearby to mount the HID ballasts. Use double-sided tape to mount it securely to the surface. Test the lights to make sure they work properly before proceeding. If they don't, check to make sure all your connections are secure. Once complete, zip tie the slack wiring to keep it neat and safe, then reinstall the front bumper.
