Acura TSX 2004-2008: How to Relocate Front License Plate

Front license plate relocation is a popular and simple modification. This article will show you how to do it.

Front license plates are terrible because they ruin the look of your car, but they're required by law in certain states. Don't worry, all hope is not lost as you can move the license plate. Relocating the front license plate is quite simple; here's how to get it done.

Materials Needed

  • Front license plate relocator mounting bracket
  • Nuts and bolts
  • Center punch
  • Drill
  • Saw
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Ratchet w/ socket set
  • Zip ties

Step 1 – Remove the front license plate

Remove the screws on the back of the front license plate holder to remove the plate holder from the bumper. Then unscrew the license plate from the plate holder.

Step 2 – Relocate the front license plate

You'll need to decide on the location for your license plate. It's common to relocate it to the side or the lower center. Once it's decided you'll need to install the mounting bracket.

Make sure that the mounting bracket you're installing fits to where you're relocating the license plate. You may need to modify the mounting bracket in order to make it fit properly. When you're ready to install the mounting bracket. Line it up in the position you want it to be on the bumper. Then use a center punch to make dents where the bolts will go.

Use a drill to make holes for the bolts. Put the mounting bracket back into position then fasten it down with nuts and bolts. Make sure it's secured to the bumper. After that all you need to do is screw in the front license plate to the mounting bracket, then you're all done with the relocation.

Pro Tip

Don't like making holes in your front bumper? There's an even easier and cheaper way of relocating your front license plate using zip ties. Just use the zip ties to hang the license plate off the grill on your bumper. It won't look quite as nice as a mounting bracket, but it will get the job done.
